Coaxial Cable

Coaxial cables were historically common in LAN configurations because they supported long-distance data transmission. They feature a central conductor, surrounded by insulating material, enclosed within a protective metal shield that is further insulated by an outer layer for extra protection.

However, as modern networking technologies have evolved, coaxial cables have become obsolete. The emergence of faster and more efficient networking solutions, such as Ethernet and fiber optics, has led to the phasing out of coaxial cables in favor of higher-performance alternatives.
